How much does it cost?
- Membership for The Oxford University Aikido Club (restricted to student members of the University of Oxford) is £10 per term. Additionally, students are required to become members of the British Aikido Federation (BAF), which provides the personal accident and public liability insurance that is obligatory in all martial arts; the annual fee is £25.
- There is no membership fee for The Oxford City Aikido Club. Obligatory annual membership for the British Aikido Federation (BAF) is £35 per annum (£25 for those of student status).
- Monthly practice fees for unrestricted practice for members of The Oxford City Aikido Club are £20 (£12 for those of student and unwaged status).
- Introductory offer: two weeks training £5. Afterwards full membership is required to carry on training.
What if I can't make the Beginners' Class?
Since Aikido is not at all competitive, beginners can easily be assimilated into the mixed and basics classes. You'll find the more senior students very considerate and helpful (that's all part of Aikido!). Those wishing to attend mixed classes without first attending a beginners class should first watch a practice to assess what is involved.
What do you wear for Aikido practice?
A judo or karate suit is normally worn; but to start with any loose-fitting clothing (e.g. a track-suit) is adequate.
